About Me
My name is Liz Armstrong and I am a cognitive behavioural therapist and counsellor with an independent practice based at my home in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire.
My main approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is a talking based therapy recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) to help treat depression, anxiety disorders and other mental, emotional and physical health issues. Although CBT is my main approach, elements of other types of psychotherapy may be incorporated to suit your individual needs.
Training, qualifications & experience
Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
Associate of the Chartered Management Institute (ACMI)
First Aid certificate
I also have an extensive business background which includes coaching, team building and leadership, personal development, problem-solving and risk management. As a result of my wider experience, I understand the pressures and stresses of both personal and professional life.
In addition to my private work I also work with two registered charities. I provide counselling to adults bereaved by murder or suicide for PETAL Support (People Experiencing Trauma and Loss) and with adults whose bereavement is alcohol or drug related for Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs.
I work within the ethical frameworks of COSCA and BABCP.
